With these figures in mind, our goal must be to develop green packaging solutions and steadily reduce negative environmental impacts.<\/p>\n

Reduction in packaging weight<\/strong>
\n<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Our approach is to engage with our customers in close collaboration to significantly reduce the weight of our packaging and the thickness of our films, which conserves valuable resources right from the get-go. We would be happy to provide you with comparative figures.<\/p>\n

Use of recycled materials
\n<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Another priority is the increased use of bio-based and recycled plastics such as recycled polystyrene (rPS). The basic rPS method is registered as a novel technology under the new EU Regulation 2022-1616<\/a> on recycled materials.<\/p>\n

Using and simplifying circularity
\n<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Returning materials and used packaging to the recycling loop is equally essential to us. At Fernholz, for example, the entire skeleton waste from the thermoforming process and edge trimmings from film production are collected, ground and reintroduced into the production process in strict compliance with all quality standards. We also build on single-material packaging to simplify the process of sorting packaging at landfills. After all, packaging made from several different materials tends to cause problems in the recycling process. Cups with sleeves are a typical example here.<\/p>\n

Reduction in energy consumption
\n<\/strong><\/h3>\n

End-to-end energy management is another key component in our approach.
