Yoghurt buckets – the new high achievers

In cooperation with a well-known customer from the dairy industry, Fernholz has developed another innovative packaging solution: a 1-litre, PP mono-material bucket for quark and yoghurt.

Our customer requested a square version instead of the traditional round containers, putting their trust in Fernholz’s skills to achieve this. Just use a square instead of a circle – it sounds simple at first. But manufacturing square buckets is quite technically demanding. Firstly, square forms have specific structural properties. Furthermore, making tamper-evident closures with the required welded strips using injection moulding demands a great deal of know-how from the producer. Thanks to our many years of experience and solid expertise, we were able to develop a suitable product solution very quickly and produce it in series to the highest quality standards. Currently, around 5 lorry loads of square buckets leave our production facility in the Sauerland every week.

This new bucket shape is a huge boon for retailers. It is sturdy and makes much more efficient use of the available storage space. The packaging can be stacked more easily, both on pallets and later on the shelves. Furthermore, consumers appreciate the fact that a family pack fits perfectly in the fridge door.
