Fernholz on the environmentally friendly path to success
Meinerzhagen, 22.06.2022.
Fernholz’s participation in IFAT, the world’s leading trade fair for water, sewage, waste and raw materials management, was a resounding success. Most of the discussions at the fair addressed the circular economy for well-known bulk plastics such as polystyrene, reuse of the material and its suitability for recycling.
“As a film manufacturer, we have to meet the spiraling demands placed on looks, manageability, barrier properties, resource conservation and sustainability”, explains Michael Roth, member of the Fernholz management team. “That is why we are expanding our production capacities to include more environmentally compatible film manufacturing technologies. We recently started construction of a production facility at our Schkopau site”, says Roth.
Aimed at resource efficiency, the cooperation between Fernholz and the petrochemical company Trinseo was greeted enthusiastically by many visitors to the IFAT trade fair. The products benefit from polystyrene’s adaptability to the circular economy, the material’s reusability and its ability to be fully recycled by means of the solvent process.
Based in Meinerzhagen and Schkopau, Fernholz is a manufacturer of films and plastic packaging. The company employs a workforce of around 220 at both locations. It holds numerous certificates that testify to its sustainable and innovative products
