Investments in Schkopau: The successful sheet segment will soon have more space to grow. Here at Fernholz, we have been extruding PS, PP, PET and multilayer sheets as well as decorated or printed PS sheets at our sites in Meinerzhagen and Schkopau for many years.

We place a particular focus on the production of cups based on renewable raw materials. To this end, we joined with three industry partners to launch a feasibility study along the plastics value chain for organic-based polypropylene (PP).

Sustainability, the energy crisis and war in Ukraine – these were the most important key topics for us in 2022.

Whether it’s by selecting alternative resources with better recycling properties or by changing the packaging geometry to cut back on materials.

To ensure that the transition to the optimized processes runs efficiently and smoothly, goods in and out will only take place until December 23, 2022 this year.

We need to reduce packaging to the bare minimum if we want to conserve resources and protect the environment. This fact is undisputed. But it is at least equally important to include current packaging in the recycling loop.

Desto®-Cup has been a registered trademark of Fernholz in the Federal Republic of Germany since 20 June 2022. Our Desto®-Cup has established a strong market presence since then, with more than 12.5 million units sold in 2022 – and counting.

The resource-efficient Desto Cup techno-logy is now firmly established. Trade journals have already published detailed reports on Fernholz’s new decorative system, and market demand is rising as well.

Over time, we will double capacity at the Schkopau site and invest in new systems. After completing preparations in 2020 and 2021, we will push ahead with construction in 2022 and also install the first new systems and machinery.
